How Long Does an Auto Truck Transport Take?
Shipping items to various places can be difficult, especially shipping large heavy items such as your vehicle. You can’t just drive to the post office and ship your car somewhere. Shipping a vehicle takes time. How much time? How long can you expect an auto truck transport to take?
On average, you will need to plan approximately two weeks for an auto truck transport. The amount of time it takes to transport your vehicle varies on many factors. These factors may reduce your times to a few days or increase the time to several weeks. Here are the factors that can increase or decrease the time it will take to transport your vehicle.
Length of Travel - Obviously, if you are only shipping a vehicle across the state it would take less time than if you needed to ship your car across the country. It actually only takes a truck five days to drive from New York City to Los Angeles; however, there are other factors that increase or decrease the actual time it takes to transport a vehicle.
Placement on the Truck - If your vehicle is one of the first cars to be placed on the transport truck, it will most likely be one of the last vehicles to be delivered. All the other vehicles will need to be removed before your vehicle can be taken off the truck. If your car is the last one on the truck, it may be one of the first cars to be delivered.
Schedule of Pickup - Usually a shipping or carrier company will ask for a three day window to pickup your vehicle for transport. If the carrier is able to pick up your vehicle on the first day, your time may be shorter; however, if your vehicle is not picked up until late on the third day, the process of transporting your vehicle may take longer.
